Setting Up a Workout Routine

If you’re trying to lose weight, stay in shape, or just keep your health in check, exercise is crucial! Setting up a proper workout routine is vital to great health.

The benefits of exercise are endless, from helping you to kick-start your metabolism, improving your mood, improving your heart health, and getting more oxygen to your brain. This is barely scratching the surface as to all the great benefits you can experience from regular exercise. So often, adults complain about ailments that can often be “cured” with a regular workout routine.exercise_600x450

How Often Should I Work Out?

It depends. Before starting any new workout regimen, you should get a full physical with metabolic blood panel. Find out where you are with your health by speaking with your doctor. They will give you guidance as to whether or not you are healthy enough for a lifestyle change.

If you are in relatively good health, your doctor will likely recommend that you exercise a minimum of 30 minutes five times a week. Instead of getting burnt out by becoming overwhelmed, it’s recommended that you start off slow.

If your target is to exercise five times a week, why not start out at three times per week? If your goal is to eventually work out for an hour, start off at 15 minutes. After your workout session, check: “How do I feel after 15 minutes?” Don’t get discouraged if you feel really sore the next morning. This is a good sign! It means your exercise routine is working. Gradually increase the amount you are exercising until you reach your goal time.

I Don’t Have Time to Work Out!

It’s a matter of prioritization. You have the time to go to work on time, regardless of how late you stood up the night before, don’t you? We recommend that you focus on setting up a workout routine in the morning, so that you can carry the benefits of your exercise with you the rest of the day:

  • Increased mental focus
  • Better mood
  • Higher energy levels
  • Reduced brain fog
  • Smarter food choices

Let’s talk about the last benefit of “smarter food choices.” What you’ll find is that you won’t want to “waste” your workout by eating junk food. Exercising in the morning will help you make wise decisions with what you eat, that you otherwise may not experience if you work out at night.

If you think you don’t have time to set up a workout routine, here’s what we recommend: Wake up an hour earlier every morning. We know, it sounds crazy, right? You’ll be shocked at the benefits of creating this habit. By waking up an hour earlier than you are now, you will be creating a morning ritual that will set your day up for massive success. Give it a shot!

Find a Partner

One of the best things you can do is to find a workout partner, or an accountability coach to help you follow through with your commitments. It’s a powerful formula to help you achieve success.

One of the best tools we have been able to utilize is the use of a coach to help keep us accountable to our workout schedule. A coach can provide you with helpful tips on how to best establish your routine, and will check in on you daily to make sure that you are sticking with what you said you would. Accountability is key!

We hope this is helpful to you. Please let us know if you have questions that we can answer so we can cover this on a future post. The most important part is to JUST GET STARTED!
